Join presenters Eric Nelson and Jay Zins of Dotson Iron Castings (Mankato, MN) as they discuss their system changes and approach to achieving compliance with the latest OSHA silica regulation. The team will cover system considerations, implementation and engineering as well as the challenges experienced in bringing the system online.


Eric Nelson is Vice President at Dotson, where he’s worked for 22 years. He’s served in several areas of Dotson in his tenure, including Quality, Metallurgy, Plant Engineering, Maintenance and Operations. Nelson holds a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He also attended the Executive Management Program at the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. Nelson is an active AFS Member, serving on the AFS Cast Iron Research Committee, AFS Coreless Induction Committee, and is current Vice Chair of the AFS Cast Iron Executive Committee and Vice President of the Ductile Iron Society.


E. Jay Zins is a Process Control Manager at Dotson. He’s worked in the foundry industry 34 years, spanning 46 years in Aluminum, Brass, Bronze, Steel, Gray and Ductile Iron alloys. Zins is Past Chair of the AFS 4M Committee, with additional involvement in the 4E Committee and Ductile Iron Society Research Committee.
