Things that will be learned:
- If enacted, the proposed California Standard “Heat Illness Prevention in Indoor Places of Employment” would focus on managing heat stress risk by enforcing set temperature limits in the workplace, a requirement that would be prohibitively costly for foundries to achieve.
- On the other hand, information volunteered by AFS Member foundries in response to an AFS questionnaire is now available and will be discussed. Foundries are reducing the risk and frequencey of heat-related illness by implementing methods that key more on preparing workers for heat stress conditions and on responding to heat strain symptoms as soon as they appear than on cooling down the foundry indoor air environment.
Come learn how you can review your own heat stress management program and be exposed to practices of other foundries in protecting their workers from heat-induced illness.
