The purpose of this webinar is to assess the impact screen distribution has on the final properties of 3D printed silica sand.  The aggregates selected were 57-grain fineness number (GFN) and 70 GFN three screen sands.  These Illinois St. Peters deposit sands werr a high purity round grain silica and had low trace contaminates, to reduce any possible influence from contaminates. The resin system utilized in this investigation was a commercially available Furan resin system.  Sand printer settings were adjusted for four different resin contents on the printed test speciments. The test criteria to determine a difference between the selected screen distributions would be evaluated by the test samples: mass, tensile strength, scratch hardness, density, and loss on ignition. Sixteen trails were completed with eight being replicate trials. The analysis revealed at tradtional foundry resin levels the 70 GFN retained higher tensile and scratch hardness than the 57 GFN.
