Nadcap is an accreditation program for special processes and products in the aerospace industry. The author who managed the task group which established the Conventional Machining as a Special Process accreditation program and who is a current auditor will provide insight into Nadcap. This includes background on the history of Nadcap and an overview of the process. Current task groups and accreditation programs which impact the foundry industry will be reviewed. In addition, the future impact and ongoing development of casting checklists by the “Metallic Materials Manufacturing” task group will also be covered as this will likely soon impact foundries suppling the aerospace industry.
