This seminar is for individuals who have a basic knowledge and understanding of EPA air regulations and air emission calculations. It will build on concepts presented at AFS’s Foundry Environmental 101 Seminar, with advanced practical knowledge, tools, and techniques needed to address relatively complex air issues in foundries. This two-day seminar covers five main topics: emission estimation, permitting, regulatory requirements, compliance demonstration, and practical control technologies.

For each topic, classroom instruction will be followed by a working group session in which the class will be divided into subgroups to complete hypothetical foundry air emission problems. Results will be reported back to the entire class. Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptop computers to class for these working sessions. At a minimum, each work group will need one laptop, but preferably three, with Microsoft Excel, to work on their group assignments. The instructors will provide pre-programmed electronic templates to complete during the group assignments. Class slides, a participant list, instructor list, and local restaurant guide will be provided electronically.
