Building off the annual Chapter Officers Conference, the first-ever AFS Leadership Summit will bring together AFS volunteer leaders for two days of break-out sessions focusing on volunteerism and volunteer management. Come learn and share ways to successfully lead an industry group, while networking with people who face the same challenges as you. This event is for all AFS Chapter Officers, Division and Committee Leaders, Board Members and Shared Interest Group Chairs. Discussions will cover a range of issues and opportunities, including:
- Effective use of social media.
- Basic meeting planning/scheduling.
- Recruitment and mentorship.
- Organizing/coordinating special events.
- Volunteer tools.
- Member communication.
The Leadership Summit will kick off with keynote speaker Dean A. West, FASAE, Association Leadership Futurist.
West is one of the nation’s leading thought leaders and futurists for the association community. An engaging, provocative and conversational speaker, he understands the unique needs of association leaders working in a complex, dynamic environment. From volunteer leadership to membership engagement, Dean’s research-based insights inform and inspire. The diversity of his experience ranges from small trade associations to global professional societies, giving him a unique perspective on the challenges faced by association leaders.

Travel/Registration Stipends:
