The material in Cast Iron Fatigue Properties Database for Modern Design Methods was developed from 10 studies done by Element Materials Technology (formerly Stork Climax Research Services), initially as a Department of Energy (DOE) contract and later as studies under agreements with the American Foundry Society (AFS) contracted under AFS Research funds and subsequent AMC (American Metalcasting Coalition) DLA (Defense Logistics Agency) projects, along with contributed work from Chrysler Group, LLC.
This data key (USB) includes material contained in previously published (2003, 2008, and 2009) versions of the reports. The objective of the program was to develop a detailed and well-documented strain-life database for cast iron. With the introduction of the five new studies since the last edition (2009) and the contributed report by Chrysler, AFS has combined all ten studies into one data key (USB) and restructured the data presentation first by metal type (Austempered Ductile Iron, Compacted Graphite Iron, Ductile Iron, Gray Iron and White Iron) and then by Grade (typically ASTM) under each metal. Work is continuing to update with additional grades, sections sizes, and material properties along with contributed data sets. This data key (USB) replaces all previous versions.
